Select and answer two focus question

1. “Spare the rod, spoil the child” espouses a famous adage that relates on how to discipline children. Reconcile this maxim to the current directive of the Department of Education that prohibits corporal punishment as a method of disciplining children. Expound and support your answer with philosophical and/or psychological principles.
2. Is a teacher born or made? Expound and support your answer with philosophical and/or psychological principles.
3. Ms. Tapia, a principal in a certain elementary school observes that many pupils in his school are actively engaging in young courtship and romance. He proposes that it is already appropriate that sex education be taught to grade six pupils. Expound and support your position with philosophical and/or psychological principles.
4. What is the philosophy of Waldorf School? What benefits could be achieved in establishing such a school in the country? An educator contends that children who finished in such school are sure to become well-rounded and productive citizens. Is his claim tenable? Decide with philosophical and/or psychological principles.
5. Steve, an elementary pupil in grade six, was asked by his teacher Mr. Sandoc to research and cook a dish of Chinese origin. The father of Steve objected to such task as it is not essential and necessary for a pupil like him to learn such things. He reasons that such do not equip him with necessary knowledge, skills, and attitude to perform his role in society. Decide with philosophical and/or psychological principles.
6. Bob Uy, an elementary pupil in a private school, is the tallest in the class. He likes sitting in the front row, and was able to get good marks because of this. The principal of the school had substituted their teacher because of maternity leave. The principal arranged the class seating plan and put the less taller pupils in the front row who have also shown improvement in their marks. He put Bob Uy in the back row who begins to have skidding grades. The parents of Bob Uy lodged a complaint against the principal. Decide with philosophical and/or psychological principles.
7. Maria observes that when she separated the intelligent pupils from the “slow” learners the former became boastful, and “bossy” to the latter. She contends that such distinction should have not been made as the “slow learner” pupils exhibit timidity in their lessons as if accepting a “brand” that they are such. Decide with philosophical and/or psychological principles.
8. When do you think is the right time to teach sex education to pupils/ students? Decide with philosophical and/or psychological principles.
9. Is the relationship of religion and education progressive or regressive? Decide with philosophical and/or psychological principles.
10. The inventor of Yahoo.com pronounced in a commencement ceremony of a prestigious institution, “Because you are now graduates, I pity you, because you cannot be as rich as I am”. Filipinos have pinned their hopes of material successes to diplomas. Give you comment with philosophical and/or psychological principles.

The King had to leave his Kingdom for some business. He was afraid that his only Daughter would be taken advantage of by some of the Guards because she was a very deep sleeper. So before he left, he slipped a razor blade between the lips of her vagina.

That night, three of the Guards did plan to have sex with the Princess. The First Guard went into her room. From outside of the room, the other two Guards listened. Suddenly, they heard the First Guard scream. He came out. The other two Guards asked why he screamed. Embarrassed, he said that it was so good that he couldn’t control himself. This made the other two smile. The Second Guard went in. After some time, “Ahhhhh!!!” The Second Guard came out. The Third Guard asked what happened. Just as embarrassed as the First Guard, the Second Guard said that it felt so good that he couldn’t control himself. Finally, the Third Guard went into the room. He went up to the Princess and lifted her dress. Outside, the other two Guards were as the Third Guard finished silently.

The next morning, the King came back. He suspected that his Guards tried to fuck his daughter. He told them to drop their pants. Each of them did. A man took his pregnant wife to the hospital. The doctor looked her over and told them it would be a rather difficult delivery. He offered to let the couple try an experimental procedure. The woman would be connected to a machine that would transfer part of the pain to the father of the baby, thus reducing her own. The man quickly agreed. The doctor warned him, though, that there was a slight bug in the machine that caused it to amplify the pain sent to the father 10 times, and if the pain became too much for the father to bear he should let the doctor know.

The doctor turned on the machine and watched the man. The man said he felt absolutely fine and he could take more. The doctor turned the dial up to 40, 60, 80, and finally 100 percent of the pain, times 10. The woman delivered the baby painlessly and the doctor stared at the man, astonished at how he could not even flinch with that much pain brought upon him. The couple took the new baby home. There, on the front step, the mailman lay dead.

A Pinoy, German and Pakistani get arrested in Saudi for drinking and were sentenced to get 20 lashes. Before getting whipped, the law enforcement’s top brass announces: “It’s my wife’s birthday and she asked me to allow you a wish.” The German said: “Please tie a pillow to my back.” His wish is granted but the pillow only lasts 10 lashes. He’s carried away bleeding. The Pakistani’s next. He requests two pillows on his back. It lasted only 15 lashes, the guy’s sent away whimpering. The Pinoy’s up. Before he could say anything, the coppers said to him: “You are from a beautiful country. For this, you get two wishes!”

The Pinoy says, “In recognition to your kindness, my first wish is that you give me not 20, but 100 lashes.” “Not only are you an honorable man, you’re also very brave,” the top law men replied. “If that’s what you desire, so be it. What’s your second wish?” the Pinoy smiles and says, “Tie the Pakistani to my back.”

• In each task that must be done, there is opportunity. See the task not as a burden, but as an encouragement to be fully alive and effective.

 An 18-year-old girl went to see her mom to tell her that she has missed her period for two months. Very worried, the mother goes to the drug store and buys a pregnancy kit. The test results show that the girl is pregnant.

Shouting, cursing and crying all at the same time, the mother ask, “Who was the pig that did this to you? I want to know!” The girl picks up the phone and makes a call. Half an hour later, a brand new Ferrari stops at their house, and a mature, distinguished man with gray hair and impeccably dressed in a very expensive suit, steps out of the car and enters the house.

He sits in the living room with the father, the mother and the girl, and tells them: “Good morning, your daughter has informed me of the problem. However, I can’t marry her because of my personal family situation, but I’ll take charge.

If a girl is born I will bequeath her three stores, two townhouses, a beach villa, and a P1,000,000 bank account. If a boy is born, my legacy will be a couple of factories, and a P1,000,000 bank account. If it is twins, I will leave a factory and P500,000 each. However, if there is a miscarriage…”

At this point, the father, who had remained silent all this time, places a hand firmly on the man’s shoulder and tells him: “You’ll sleep with her again!”

 A city lawyer went duck hunting in a rural town. He shot and dropped a bird, but it fell into a farmer’s paddock on the other side of a fence. As the lawyer climbed over the fence, an elderly farmer walked up to him and asked what he was doing. The lawyer responded, “I shot a duck and it fell in this field, and now I’m going to retrieve it.” 

 The old farmer replied, “This is my property, and you are not coming over here.” “I am one of the best trial attorneys in the country and if you don’t let me get that duck I’ll sue you and take everything you own,” boasted the lawyer.

The old farmer smiled. “Apparently, you don’t know how we do things up here. We settle small disagreements like this with the Three Kick Rule.” “What’s that?” the lawyer asked. “Well, first I kick you three times and then you kick me three times, and so on, back and forth, until someone gives up.” The attorney thought about it and figured he could take the old codger. So he agreed.

The old farmer walked up to the city feller and kicked him in the groin and dropped him to his knees. His second kick nearly ripped the man’s nose off his face. The third kick almost knocked the lawyer out of his wits. The lawyer slowly got to his feet and said, “Okay, you old coot-now it’s my turn.” The old farmer smiled and said, “Nah, I give up. You can have the duck.”

• Life is not a race. It is a journey.
